Currently, Washington continues to
energetically pour into God’s people. In
addition to touring with Gospel
legends, BeBe & CeCe Winans,
functioning as the Director of Praise &
Worship at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in
Nashville and performing as a solo
artist, Benita, a true Proverb 31
woman, is proud wife to Delvin and
mother to Kiersten and Chelsea.

Benita Washington’s highly-anticipated
third album, “The Word Remains
(Shanachie Entertainment)” is set to
release Tuesday, June 29, 2010. The
album aims to embody Benita’s
current reverence, style, persona,
outlook, praise, adoration and maturity.
Even more than before, Benita
Washington is a gospel powerhouse
whose unique gift has a diverse
elegance to it. Her forthcoming album’
s music ranges from electric R&B/
Soul, Nu Jazz, contemporary Christian,
modern praise & worship, to songs
with a traditional gospel feel.
Washington is something of a novelty
in the way she mixes pop sensibility
with gospel fervor, exhortation, and a
number of stylistic diversions in
between them.
A true labor of love, “The Word
Remains” will both, bless and inspire
its listener.  Anointed and destined for
ministry, Benita Washington is a
psalmist for such a time as this. Benita
believes God’s plan for her life and
looks to the future with a calm
assurance that God will do everything
He promised; His word remains!

when Selma, Alabama native, Benita
Washington, was crowned the inaugural
Gospel Dream Winner. With an enlarged
platform, Washington got busy stirring
audiences with her anointing and
dazzling the industry with her vocal
ability. Her 2004 debut release, “Hold On
(Light Records)” hit multiple slots on the
Billboard charts in its first week including
number six on Top Gospel Albums. “Hold
On” went on to chart again several
different times over the next year,
receive a Soul Train Lady of Soul
nomination for Best Gospel Album, and
the lead single, “Thank You” reached
number three on the gospel radio charts;
remaining there three consecutive
weeks.

Benita followed up with her 2007
critically acclaimed sophomore album,
“Renaissance: Live in Nashville
(ReddApple Seed Entertainment)”. As co-
writer of the majority of the album,
Washington unveiled another layer of
artistry, liberty and piety. The live concert
provided not only a quality, well-
reviewed recording; it was received as a
true praise and worship experience,
which afforded concert goers a chance
to freely “enter in”.
